EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST

BARBARA GILL

BSc., PGCE., MSc., C.Psychol.

I am an Educational Psychologist with sixteen years of experience in Educational Psychology Services. I work across pre-school settings, primary and secondary schools and in community settings specialising in understanding and supporting young people's additional support needs to improve their learning and well-being.

I work in partnership with young people and their schools and families, jointly exploring concerns, helping understand difficult situations and seeking solutions by translating psychology into practical every day interventions.

I am committed to creating inclusive learning spaces and strengthening connection and relationships as core to the support young people need to be the best they can.

I work collaboratively with you and your young person to develop a holistic picture of their needs, and also the needs and strengths of the adults around them. My approach is consultative and therapeutic, using narrative, solution-orientated and person-centred approaches to create meaningful change.

I have completed the postgraduate professional training in Educational Psychology and I am registered as a Chartered Educational Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). My practice is guided by the BPS professional standards on assessment, ethics and supervision.

I am also a qualified primary school teacher with six years classroom teaching experience in schools in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Japan and South Korea.

I am the busy mum of three daughters who help remind me every day of the importance of staying in the moment and keeping it simple.

Connected Community

Inclusive Psychology is part of a network of independent practitioners who are linking with each other to understand and support your young person and their needs.

We share interest in and experience of the ways in which young people flourish through strengthening relationships, and we advocate play and nature as rich learning space and a protective and therapeutic intervention.

Through our work together at Inclusive Psychology we may identify specific areas of need which requires further assessment or support, and we can put you in contact with colleagues who can work together collaboratively with us.

Our partners offer a variety of services through activities and resources which have been designed to promote connection, belonging and curiosity, and foster confidence and well-being.

We link with some partners who are specialised in additional support needs and may be able to offer you a particular assessment or intervention related to your young person.

Inclusive Psychology works in partnership with this community, helping design outcomes for your young person and gathering direct  feedback from these experiences to deepen understanding of their needs and help shape school support.

Working together we can make a bigger difference.

All practitioners in the Community of Practice engage in collaborative peer support and supervision.

We welcome new practitioners who align with our values and principles within the Community of Practice to get in touch to discuss more about your interest at:
